Upper Elementary)-Fourth & Fifth
The Upper Elementary school years mark a turning point in the student’s educational career. Students begin to gain depth and breadth in the subject areas of math, science, social studies, language arts, and reading. The spiritual life blossoms as students continue their religious studies, more fully understanding the Church symbols and the liturgy of the Word. Students begin to participate in academic programs such as the Geography Bee, and are eligible for school Honor Roll awards. Students learn to handle their growing responsibilities by taking on leadership roles as Student Council representatives, teacher-helpers, and cooperative learning partners. Fifth grade students begin to switch classes for math and reading. Being organized, accountable and an eager self-starter become increasingly important at the Upper Elementary stage
